Otilonium Bromide
Class:Antispasmodic and anticholinergic.
Mechanism of action
Otilonium bromide
exerts an intense antispasmodic effect on the smooth muscles of the digestive
tract.
Indications
Irritable colon and
spastic painful conditions of the distal section of the intestinal tract.
Contraindications
Known
hypersensitivity to the drug.
Precautions
Careful in patients
with glaucoma,prostatic hypertrophy and pyloric stenosis.
Side effects
At therapeutic
doses,the drug does not cause side effects,nor does it cause atropine-like
effects.
Pregnancy and lactation
There have been no
reports of embryotoxicity,teratogenic or mutagenic effects in animals.Otilonium
bromide should only be given to pregnant women and nursing mothers if
absolutely necessary and under close supervision.
Dosage
1 tablet 2-3 times
daily.
