Methylsalicylate
Class:Anti-rheumatic,Systemic/Topical chest rubs/Inhalants
Indications
For the symptomatic relief of muscular pain and stiffness(including
rheumatic pains,backache,lumbago,sciatica,fibrositis,muscular
aches,sprains and strains,painful bruising) and chilblains where the
skin is unbroken.
Contraindications
It should not be used on broken skin,near the eyes or on mucous
mambranes.Patients hypersensitive to iodine or methylsalicylate should
not use it.
Precautions
If excessive skin irritation occurs,discontinue use.Absorbed iodine may
interfere with some test of thyroid function.It does not stain the skin
but will stain linen and other fabrics.
Side effects
Skin sensitivity reactions have been reported.
Dosage
Rubbed gently on the effected area.
